Hot take: I think skipping shampoo before color saves me 20 minutes per client
I started doing this thing where I only wet the hair and apply color without washing first, even if they came in with product buildup. I figured it would mess up the lift or something, but honestly the color has been taking way better and it saves me a solid 20 minutes each time. Another stylist at my salon said I'm being lazy and it'll cause patchy results down the line. Has anyone else tried this or am I just lucky so far lol?

Used to be on the side of thinking it was lazy too honestly. Was taught that you always needed clean hair for the color to grab right. But then I tried it on a few regulars who always had dry shampoo in their hair and the results came out way more even than when I was stripping all that out first. The natural oils actually seem to help the color deposit smoother and protect the scalp a bit too. Saves me time and the color looks better so I dont see the downside. As long as the hair isnt caked in gel or heavy wax I say go for it.

Yeah, I feel you on that. I used to think the same way, figured you had to start with totally clean hair or the color would be a mess. But after watching my sister do her own at home with day-old hair and it came out great, I kinda changed my mind on it too.
