Had to pick between tape and cap highlights on a 4-hour appointment last Tuesday

Went with cap highlights for this fine-haired client (figured it'd be faster) and ended up fighting with strands poking through the wrong holes for 20 extra minutes. Anyone else have a go-to method for fine hair that doesn't make you want to throw the cap across the room?

22 years in and I still have flashbacks to that one Tuesday in 2019 when a cap highlight took me 45 minutes just to thread... what's your usual prep routine before you even open the cap, like do you blow-dry the hair differently or use a specific product to keep those fine strands from wandering?

God I feel that pain, those fine strands are the absolute worst for sneaking away on you.
