Found a $20 curling iron at a yard sale in Dayton, best tool I've grabbed in years

Last Saturday I stopped at a garage sale on a whim and snagged a vintage curling iron with a frayed cord for 20 bucks, replaced the wire myself and it heats like a dream. Anyone else ever score a solid tool secondhand instead of ordering new, or am I just lucky with old gear?

Got a buddy who swears by this old beat up table saw he pulled from a neighbor's curb during bulk trash pickup. The thing looked like it had been through a flood and a fire, but he spent a whole weekend cleaning the rust off and swapping out the motor bearings. He uses it almost every week for building furniture and it cuts straight as an arrow, better than the new one he had before. He told me he offered the neighbor twenty bucks for it and the guy just laughed and told him to take it. That saw probably saved him four hundred dollars, easy. Old gear just has a soul sometimes, you know?
