Why does everyone push Procore like its the only option out there

I work for a mid-size crew in Austin and we tried Procore for 6 months last year. The thing is so bloated for what we actually need on site daily, we switched back to Buildertrend and saved about $800 a month. Does anyone else feel like the big software names just get recommended because of marketing budgets?

Disagree a bit here. Procore clicked for us because the field-to-office sync is actually tight (we had zero rekeying of daily reports once the crew got trained up). The bloat argument comes up a lot, but you can turn off like 80% of the modules in settings and hide them from everyone. Buildertrend is solid for smaller crews no doubt, but when we hit 30+ subs on a job the document control in Procore just worked smoother without us having to hunt down emailed PDFs. Marketing budgets definitely help them stay top of mind though, that part I can't argue with.

You got me with the "turn off 80% of the modules" point. I'll admit I used to think Procore was just this bloated monster that smaller guys couldn't handle. My buddy runs a crew of 8 and he swore it was too much for them. But hearing you say you just hide all the junk in settings makes me rethink that. We run about 20 subs on our bigger jobs and the PDF hunting is a real pain, especially when someone emails an old version by accident. Might have to give Procore another look just for that document control feature alone. How long did it take your crew to really get comfortable with the field-to-office sync part?
