Vent: When my PM told me my beautiful Gantt chart was 'too artsy'
I spent a whole afternoon making this color-coded Procore schedule with gradient bars and custom icons for each trade. My project manager took one look and said 'this looks like a kindergarten art project, give me the dates in a spreadsheet.' I switched to just plain text cells with conditional formatting after that and honestly it's way faster to update. Has anyone else had their fancy software touches shot down by a boss who just wants the raw data?

That bit about "too artsy" reminds me of when I spent hours making a color-coded schedule for our site superintendent and he just wanted a printed list of dates. I learned to ask first what format they want, saves a lot of wasted time.

Yeah that's the real trick, just like @claire_ramirez22 said, ask what they want first and save yourself the headache.
