Tried daily logging in Procore and it backfired hard on me

I started entering every single task and note into Procore during my last project in Nashville. Thought it would help with tracking and keep everyone on the same page. After two weeks of this, my foreman blew up at me saying I was wasting time on the iPad instead of watching the crew. Turns out I actually missed a header layout issue because I was too focused on logging things perfectly. The irony is that the detailed logs didn't stop a $3,000 redo on that wall. So now I'm wondering if there's a middle ground here. Do you guys log everything or just the big milestones? What's your system for not letting the software slow you down on site?

I mean honestly, is this really that big of a deal? Missing one layout issue doesn't sound like a Procore problem as much as it sounds like you got distracted, which can happen with or without a tablet in your hands.

Gotta love how distracted workers were always a "people problem" until tablets showed up and suddenly it's the software's fault for existing.
