Stopped doing manual takeoffs last month and it's a game changer
I used to print out blueprints and highlight everything by hand. Took me like 4 hours for a basic commercial job. Then a buddy showed me Bluebeam's auto-count feature. Now I do the same job in under an hour. Just trace the walls and it counts everything for me. My eyes don't hurt anymore from staring at lines all day. Anyone else switch from paper to digital takeoffs recently?

Respectfully, manual takeoffs still catch way more hidden details for me.

@the_seth I get what you're saying but honestly I gotta disagree. Manual takeoffs used to miss stuff for me all the time. Like I'd forget a row of outlets or count windows wrong because I was rushing. Digital lets me zoom in way closer and verify each item without killing my back hunched over a table. Ngl the hidden details argument kinda falls apart when you can just toggle layers in software.
