Question about an estimating export bug that ate a whole Saturday

I was trying to get a takeoff from my estimating software into Excel and the quantities kept coming over as text, so my formulas all showed zero and I didn't notice til a bid meeting. Turned out the fix was one checkbox in the export settings in Buildertrend, but finding it took me about 9 hours on a Saturday in March. I even called support twice. Has anyone else run into exports that silently break formulas like that, and is there a setting you check before every bid?
