Got burned by a bad takeoff on a $45k job in Denver

Was using PlanSwift for a commercial bid last month and the automatic takeoff missed like 15% of the drywall because the PDF had some weird layer issue. Client caught it during the walkthrough and I had to eat the extra cost since my contract said 'based on digital takeoff.' Now I manually double check every single room before I hit send. Anybody else have a software screw up that cost them real money?

Manual double check is the ONLY way now. Saved my ass three times since.

Buddy of mine works in logistics. He ALMOST shipped a whole pallet to the wrong warehouse last week because his autofill had an old address saved. Caught it at the last second when he did his manual check. Said the kicker was the address was only off by one digit in the zip code. Would have cost his company thousands to fix.

Oh man @derek939, that zip code thing is brutal. I once typed my address into a food delivery app and accidentally transposed two numbers in my street number. Ended up ordering a pizza to some random house three blocks away. Watched the delivery driver pull up to their porch on the tracker and just sat there wondering if the people inside were confused but ate it anyway. Your buddy's one digit close call is exactly why I triple check everything now. My own brain has betrayed me too many times.
