Am I the only one who thinks job scheduling software makes things harder sometimes?

I'm a small GC in Cleveland and last month I switched from a whiteboard to a fancy cloud-based scheduling tool everyone raved about. After two weeks, my foreman kept missing site visits because the alerts didn't sync right with his phone. Is there a simpler way to keep trades coordinated without overcomplicating it?

The alert sync stuff is a killer, man. My buddy had the same problem where his phone would show a notification but his foreman's phone wouldn't get it for an hour, then he'd miss a whole day of site visits. The whiteboard never had that issue because you see it right when you walk in the door, no batteries or signal bars involved. Plus with software, you end up spending half your day troubleshooting why someone's login isn't working instead of actually running the job. The real world stuff like broken phone screens or guys forgetting to update the app just adds another layer of headache that a board and marker never did.

lol I used to think the whiteboard was old school and anyone not using software was stuck in the past. But after helping a buddy with his crew last summer and watching him deal with the exact same alert sync issues you mentioned, I totally get it now. Sometimes the simplest tools just work better when you're dealing with real world stuff like phones not cooperating or guys forgetting to check notifications. The software can be great for some things but it adds a whole layer of troubleshooting that a whiteboard never does.
