My buddy bought one of those for his laptop. He was sure it stopped the "targeted ads" he kept getting. Turns out he just stopped searching for weird stuff online for a week. The sticker fell off and he never even noticed.

Lol that's basically the tech equivalent of wearing a tinfoil hat and then realizing you just stopped watching conspiracy docs for a week. I remember buying one of those privacy screen protectors for my phone once, swore it was making my notifications disappear. Turns out I just had a dull headache from squinting at it and kept ignoring my texts anyway. The sticker fell off my coffee mug too, thought the NSA finally gave up on me but nope, just got a new mug from work. We all convince ourselves we're being targeted when really we're just predictable creatures with bad habits.
