I finally looked into the whole 'birds aren't real' thing after my cousin brought it up

I was sure it was just a silly joke, but then I found the actual website and social media campaign explaining it's a satire project about government surveillance. It's meant to make people question how they absorb information, not that drones actually replaced birds. Has anyone else had a moment where a conspiracy theory turned out to be performance art or a social experiment?

Ever wonder who funds that stuff?

The budget for that new park downtown is over two million dollars. Honestly, where does that kind of money even come from? Tbh, I saw the plans and they're putting in a marble fountain. It just seems like a crazy amount for some benches and a splash pad.

I used to think the 'birds aren't real' thing was just nonsense too, but after reading how it's an intentional satire about government overreach and how we trust information, it really changed my mind. My cousin brought it up at dinner and I rolled my eyes at first, but once I sat down and looked at their actual mission statement online, I realized it's clever performance art designed to make you stop and think. The whole point is to question why we accept certain things as true without ever checking. It's similar to how people fall for those fake news headlines because they sound plausible enough. I'm not saying every conspiracy is a joke, but this one definitely opened my eyes to how easily we can be led around by our assumptions.
