Appreciation post for the guy who told me my furnace filter was upside down
My AC unit has been running nonstop for 3 days and the house still felt stuffy. I checked the filter and it looked clean so I figured it was something major... maybe a refrigerant leak or a bad capacitor. Finally called a buddy who does HVAC and he laughed at me. He just flipped the filter around and the airflow doubled. Felt like a total idiot for wasting 3 days and nearly calling a repair guy.

Flip the filter around and tape an arrow on the side pointing the right way so you never mix it up again. @craig.parker that dehumidifier thing is super common too, most people don't check for shipping tabs. Just one of those dumb mistakes you only make once.

Man I had a similar thing happen but with a dehumidifier. Bought one of those big ones for the basement, kept running it every day for like a week and the humidity barely dropped. I was about to return it thinking it was defective. Then I noticed the little plastic tab on the back of the unit... the one that ships with it to keep the drain plug from moving during transport. It was still wedged in there completely blocking the drainage hole so the water was just backing up inside the machine and not actually collecting in the bucket. Took me way too long to figure that out. Felt like the biggest moron on the planet when I pulled it out and it started working perfectly. Those little things that are so obvious in hindsight are always the worst.
