Used to buy every cross play game on my own console, now I wait for my kid to pick
For 10 years I grabbed the PS5 version of whatever my friends were playing, thinking that was just how it worked. Last month my son wanted to play Minecraft Dungeons with his buddy on a Switch and it took us 4 minutes to get in the same lobby, no hassle at all. So what made me wait this long when half the games in my shelf could have done this years back?
Noticed this same thing with my coffee maker. Used to think I needed the fancy one with all the settings, then my wife showed me the cheap one at her office made the same cup in half the time. We hold onto these ideas about how stuff is "supposed" to work just because that's how we learned it years ago. Half the features I pay extra for never get touched, and the thing I actually want was sitting right there the whole time.
