TIL my dad's old NES strategy guide had a typo that ruined my speedrun
I was digging through my parents' basement in Portland and found my dad's 1989 Nintendo Power guide for Super Mario Bros. 3. He wrote in the margins about a shortcut in World 3 that said to jump at the 8th brick instead of the 5th. Tried it out last Friday and fell into a pit about 6 times before realizing he mixed up his numbers. Guess I'm sticking with the original walkthroughs from now on. Anybody else find old hand written notes that were totally off?

Well hopefully your dad was just trying to make the game more interesting for you. Nothing like a good trust fall into a pixelated pit to build character.
