Switched from digital downloads only to buying physical copies after losing a 200 hour save file
Last year I had a power surge during a storm here in Portland that corrupted my external hard drive. I lost save data for three RPGs I was deep into, probably 200 hours total across them. Now I buy physical copies for any game I care about finishing, even if it means paying $10 more or waiting for shipping. Has anyone else had a close call with digital save files that made you change your buying habits?

Man, digital saves are scary fragile honestly. A friend of mine lost his entire Pokemon collection to a corrupted SD card and it broke his heart. Physical copies at least let you backup your own file manually or swap memory cards around. Plus you get that nice box art and manual smell, you know? Digital is convenient until it isn't, and then you're just out of luck. It took me losing one save file to learn that lesson the hard way too.

Yeah I feel you. Started backing up my saves to a thumb drive every month now.
