Shoutout to the guy at the Orlando airport who handed me his Switch while I waited on a delayed flight
My flight to Dallas got pushed back 3 hours last Friday and I was stuck at the gate with a dead phone and nothing to do. A guy about my age sat down next to me and asked if I wanted to try his run in Hades 2 since he saw me staring at the screen. We passed the Switch back and forth for almost two hours and I forgot I was even annoyed about the delay. He was a huge Xbox guy and I have only owned PlayStations since 2011, and it never came up once. Has anyone else had a random airport or waiting room moment like this where the whole console thing just did not matter at all?
Gotta push back on this whole "console wars don't matter" thing because honestly they kinda do and that's fine. If that guy handed you a Switch running some clunky 30fps port with joycon drift and you had to act grateful, you'd have felt way different about the delay. The reason it worked is Hades 2 runs great and the Switch is a good handheld, so you both happened to be in the one spot where hardware barely matters. Try the same scene with someone handing you a Madden copy on a dusty 360 controller with a busted stick and see how long the peace lasts. The console thing didn't matter there because nothing was actually at stake, not because everyone secretly agrees deep down.
