Used to mix mud by hand with a shovel for every small patch job

My uncle taught me that way back in '92, but after I grabbed a $30 mixing paddle for my drill last year I cut my time per patch in half, anyone else hold onto old methods longer than they should?

Honestly, @james672, I get why you're surprised but mixing mud by hand with a shovel isn't that big of a deal. It's not like we're building rocket ships here, just patching some drywall. Tbh, if the patch comes out smooth who cares if you took a few extra minutes?
