Stuck waiting on a slab that won't firm up before lunch break.

Had a big pour for a sidewalk early today and the mix is setting slower than usual. Now the whole crew is just standing around, and the schedule is blown. What do you all do when the concrete won't cooperate with your timeline?

Been there before on a patio job in high humidity. We ended up misting the surface lightly to buy some time. Otherwise, use the delay to check forms or clean up the site. Sometimes a slow set means better strength long-term, so it's not all bad. Just make sure the crew stays on standby and doesn't wander off.

Mist lightly but watch for pooling.

Hey, just a heads up that misting concrete in high humidity might make the surface weak or flaky. Using a cover or a slow-set additive is often safer. @the_elizabeth is right about keeping the crew busy during delays. Slow setting can help strength, but only if the concrete cures evenly. Always watch the weather and adjust your plan accordingly.
