Rant: Took me 12 years to finally listen to a garden guy about curing
Had a sidewalk job in Peoria last month, and this old landscaper in his 80s watched me spray cure and just shook his head. Told me to stop using the sprayer and lay wet burlap over it for 3 days, said the heat was baking the top before the slab could hydrate. Hit it with a test strip and his method cut my surface cracking down to almost nothing on a 30 foot run. Has anyone else tried burlap over spray on hot pours, or is it just bad luck to go slow in the summer?

Burlap and wet rags are as old as concrete itself, but calling it a game changer after one test strip feels like a stretch. Hot weather is rough, sure, but most guys just adjust the mix or spray a cure compound and move on. That old guy probably knows his stuff, but 12 years of doing something a certain way doesnt automatically mean it was wrong. A little surface cracking is normal anyway, and its not like the slab is gonna fall apart over it. Did you check the psi strength after, or just the cracks?
