Rant: pouring steps without a riser board until a guy in Tulsa showed me different
For a long time I formed all my porch steps by tacking a 2x4 on the face and pulling it right after the first pass, and I was always chasing a wavy edge and patching corners the next day. A finisher named Ray in Tulsa had me try a steel riser board clamped to the stakes instead, and the face came out dead flat on the first try with almost nothing to rub. I still run the same 4 inch slump mix, but now I pull the board about 20 minutes after the last pass and float the edge while it is still green. Curious if anyone here has a set time they wait depending on the weather, because that 20 minutes is real different when it is 95 out.
