Had to choose between a magnesium float and a wood one for a big garage floor job last month, went with the wood.

How did the wood finish turn out? I used one on my patio slab and got a nice, even texture.

My buddy tried a wood float on his driveway extension last year. He ended up with these weird, wavy lines that never really smoothed out, kind of like what @paul_nguyen was trying to avoid. Took his crew an extra day to go back over it with a steel trowel to fix the surface. He swears by magnesium for anything bigger than a walkway now.
