Had a homeowner in Phoenix ask me if we could 'just add more water' to the truck after it started to set up.

Sounds like a rookie move but honestly, how bad could it be? People fix soupy mix all the time with a little extra water. It might not be perfect but it'll probably still pour and set up fine. Seen guys do way worse and the driveway still looked okay from the street.

Sure, just add more water, what could possibly go wrong with a chemistry experiment in a truck.

Adding water to a truckload of concrete is a great way to ruin the whole batch. The strength gets wrecked because you mess up the water to cement ratio. It might look okay at first, but that stuff will turn to dust in a couple years. You'd be better off sending it back and starting over.
