Foreman told me to stop floating so early on a 90 degree day in Phoenix

Two summers back I was finishing a driveway in Phoenix and it was 108 out. I always started floating right after screeding like I was taught, but the foreman pulled me aside and said I was trapping bleed water and it would delaminate. He showed me a spot on the next pour where the top was already peeling up in a quarter sized patch. Now I wait until the sheen goes away and you can barely leave a fingerprint. How do you all time it when it is that hot and the mud starts setting up fast?

Man, Phoenix heat is a whole different beast. Once that sheen disappears you gotta move fast, and I keep a jug of water handy to spray the forms down so the edges don't dry out on me. Waiting for the fingerprint test is the way to go, sounds like your foreman saved you a lot of callbacks.
