Can we talk about the old finisher in Spokane who told me to stop overworking the edge
He said leave the 1 inch edge alone and pull the float off it before it sets up too hard, and my chipping problem on the garage slab in Spokane disappeared after 2 tries. Anyone else have a guy tell them the opposite of what the book says?
The old guy's advice was really about timing more than the edge itself, since you still gotta cut that edge when the concrete's right. Float work changes everything once the slab starts to set, so the book and the field don't always line up.
