Appreciation post: the old finisher who told me my edges looked like a dog chewed them
I was floating a 40x60 slab in Wichita last spring and feeling pretty good about it until he walked by and asked if I finished the edges with a chainsaw. Started running my edger at a slower speed and keeping a wet sponge on the form line, and the homeowner actually mentioned the clean edges when she paid. What little habits did you pick up from someone who was blunt about your work?
An old-timer told me the same thing years back, said my edges looked like a beaver got to them. Slowing down and hitting the form line with a wet sponge before it sets made a huge difference for me too.
