Why I now push for component-level repairs
Less e-waste and more happy clients make it worth the effort.

On a 2010 laptop repair last month, the power button didn't click. It made a soft chime from the speaker instead. The fix wasn't just one capacitor. I found three bad resistors that led to the capacitor failing. Component level repair means tracing the whole circuit to find the root cause. This saves more e-waste because you ensure the device won't fail again from the same problem. Happy clients come from knowing their gear is truly fixed, not just patched up. Ever had a repair where the expected sound or sign was completely wrong?

Yeah sometimes it's not a click but a quiet hum when it comes back. Still got that same feeling tyler890 talked about though, that's the best part of the job.

Absolutely! Fixed an old radio for my dad last year by swapping one capacitor. Thing still works perfect and his face was priceless. That satisfying click when it powered on made all the fuss worth it.
