Warning: I found a stack of old work tickets from 2018 and the difference in repair types is crazy
I was cleaning out a filing cabinet at my home shop and pulled a random handful of completed tickets from about five years back. Back then, it felt like half my calls were for virus removal, slow boot times from HDDs, and failed Windows updates. I just fixed a laptop yesterday where the main issue was a corrupted driver for a USB-C dock that was bricking the display output. The shift is so clear. It's not about general 'slowness' anymore, it's about specific hardware compatibility, firmware bugs, and cloud sync problems. The tools changed too. I used to live in a bootable antivirus USB. Now my most used tool is a $30 USB protocol analyzer to figure out why a port isn't negotiating power correctly. Has anyone else noticed their daily diagnostic flow completely pivot away from the old common problems?
