Vent: Killed a power supply on a Dell Optiplex 7050 this morning

I was swapping out a bad hard drive for a client in Scottsdale when I forgot to unplug the unit first. Zapped myself and blew the PSU with a loud pop inside the case. Had to run to Micro Center to grab a replacement and eat the cost myself since it was my mistake. Anybody else ever make a rookie error like this and have to pay out of pocket?

Read somewhere that some of those Optiplexes have a fuse on the board that can blow instead of the whole PSU if you're lucky. Maybe worth checking before you buy a whole new one next time.

Sage_perry beat me to it with better advice than anything I've ever figured out on my own. Last time I had an Optiplex go dark, I just panic-bought a whole new PSU and ended up with a spare I still haven't used. Now I'm gonna pull the board and poke around for that fuse first, maybe even find it with my terrible eyesight and a magnifying glass from a kids science kit.
