Vent: Hit 10,000 repairs and it hit me how much has changed
I crossed 10,000 completed repair jobs last Tuesday. That number surprised me because I started doing this out of my garage back in 2008. Back then I was swapping out CRT monitors and fixing dial-up modems for people. Now it's all SSD upgrades, liquid damage on laptops, and data recovery from failed drives. The tools are different too - I used to rely on a multimeter and a screwdriver set, now I need a hot air station and a microscope. What milestone made you stop and think about how the trade has evolved?

The CRT monitor swaps really took me back.

And keep an eye on those microsoldering stations, you'll end up using it way more than you think. I remember when a cracked screen was a 10 minute swap, now with all the adhesive and flex cables it's a whole ordeal. Get yourself a good pair of tweezers with a fine point, it makes a world of difference for those tiny ribbon cables. Have you had to replace any board-level components yet or mostly just the easy stuff?
