Tried booting a school lab from a USB 2.0 hub and it actually worked
Plugged 15 Chromebooks into a $20 powered hub to see if our IT guy was wrong about bandwidth limits, and they all booted in under 4 minutes. Anyone else find that official specs on USB are more like suggestions?

pretty sure usb specs are just wishful thinking at this point. i've seen cheap hubs push way more data than they're rated for without anyone noticing.
once you hit 20+ devices it turns into luck of the draw honestly. some hubs just handle it, others crash instantly for no reason.

Cheap hubs really do just gamble with your data.

Same vibe as those cheap gas station chargers that claim 3 amps but somehow charge your phone faster than the expensive ones. It's like USB lives in its own alternate universe where specs are more like suggestions.
