Took me 6 months to realize I was stripping thermal paste wrong

Been building PCs for years always spread it with a credit card. Saw a Gamers Nexus video and they just put a pea in the middle. Checked my temps dropped 8 degrees immediately. Anyone else have a basic thing they did backwards forever?

Spent years using way too much toothpaste before realizing a pea size works better too.

Knocked 5 degrees off my old build doing the same thing. I was so mad at myself for wasting all that paste and time for years.
