Three days on a ghost IP conflict that turned out to be a bad NIC
Spent 72 hours chasing a duplicate IP error on a customer's server in Austin, swapped cables, switches, even the DHCP scope, then found the onboard NIC was spitting out a random MAC every reboot. Anyone else had a hardware fault that mimicked a config issue for way too long?

That random MAC thing is brutal, did you catch it with a packet capture or notice the ARP table flipping between two addresses before you dug into the NIC?
