That $60 cable tester that lied to me on a 200 foot run

Picked up a cheap Klein tester off Amazon to check some CAT6 pulls at a school renovation. It kept saying the line was good but the switch wouldn't link at gig speed, turns out pin 4 was half-crimped. Spent 2 hours re-terminating both ends before I busted out the old Fluke and it caught it in 10 seconds. Anyone else trust those budget testers too much or is it just me being cheap?

Did you see that tear-down video someone did on those budget testers? They basically only check if the wires are in the right order, not if they're actually making good contact. So yeah, you're not being cheap, those things just give you false confidence.
