Stumbled on a stat about thermal paste that blew my mind
I was watching a repair video last night. Guy tested 20 different thermal pastes on a 10 year old laptop. The difference between the cheapest and the most expensive? Only 2 degrees Celsius. Made me feel dumb for spending $15 on a tiny tube of Arctic Silver. Has anyone else seen real world numbers that proved the hype was wrong?

Yeah, I used to be one of those people who swore by the expensive stuff. But I saw a similar test on a desktop build and it really made me question if it's worth the extra cash. In my experience, you're paying more for a tiny bump in performance that you won't even notice.

My old Dell from 2018 still runs fine with a cheap 500gb SSD I threw in for like 50 bucks. Boots up in 15 seconds and games load fast enough for me. I tried a buddies fancy Samsung drive once and honestly couldn't tell the difference in everyday use. So yeah, I'm with you, the savings are way better spent somewhere else like on a better monitor or extra RAM.
