Lost $150 on a bad motherboard because I didn't check the PSU first

Last month I grabbed a used Z690 board off Facebook Marketplace for $150. Got it home and it wouldn't post at all, just black screen. I spent like 3 days swapping RAM and reseating the CPU before I finally tested the power supply. Turns out my old PSU was only putting out 11.2 volts on the 12v rail and killing everything. Now I'm out the cash and stuck with a dead board. Anyone else ever buy a part before testing the simpler stuff first?

Did you check the PSU's warranty before testing it on that new board?

3 year old EVGA unit so warranty was already gone, figured if it went bang at least I'd have a good story for Reddit lol.
