Just heard a client say they never turn their work computer off

They said they think it's better for the hardware, but that's a myth that can cause real issues with updates and memory leaks. Has anyone else found a good way to explain this to non-tech people without sounding like you're scolding them?

Hang on... your friend seriously never restarted their computer at all? That's wild. I had a coworker who did that once, and after a few months the thing was so bogged down it took like 15 minutes just to open Chrome. We finally convinced her to restart it and she was amazed how much faster everything ran.

Isn't it funny how people treat machines like they're alive? They'll never restart a computer, thinking it needs rest like a person, but then they'll unplug a coffee maker mid-brew without a second thought. We pick the weirdest hills to die on with technology.
