Got told my cable management looked like a rat's nest

A senior tech at my shop looked at my first big server rack setup and said 'you make it hard for the next guy on purpose?' I switched to velcro straps instead of zip ties that day because you can adjust them without cutting anything. Anyone else had a mentor call out a bad habit you didn't even notice?

Wait, was he trying to be funny or just being blunt about your setup? If it was the first time building a rack, it takes a few tries before you figure out how to leave slack without making a mess. Velcro straps were a solid upgrade, but I'd also recommend labeling both ends of every cable before you even start routing them.
