Drive imaging finally clicked after I switched tools

Been doing drive clones with the same old freeware for years. Last month a client's laptop had a failing SSD and the clone kept bailing out at 40 percent. Tried Macrium on a whim after someone mentioned it on another thread. Set it to sector by sector and it chugged through a 512GB drive in about 3.5 hours without one hiccup. Has anyone else had random freeware just give up mid-clone or is it just me?

Saw a thread last week saying the same thing about old clone tools choking on bad sectors.
