Can we talk about charging for a diagnostic when the fix takes 5 minutes?
A walk-in at my shop in Boise last Tuesday handed me a laptop that wouldn't power on. I popped the battery out, reseated the RAM, and it booted right up, maybe 3 minutes of work. I charged him the $40 bench fee and he got mad, said I didn't really do anything. My take is that the fee covers the knowing, not the doing, but I get why it feels sketchy to pay 40 bucks for a reseat. Do you all charge the full diag fee when the fix is quick, or do you wave it if it's under 10 minutes?
