A customer in Phoenix told me his laptop was 'just a little warm' before it died
I opened it up and the heat sink was completely clogged with what looked like pet hair and dust. He admitted he'd never cleaned it in the three years he owned it. What's the most surprising thing you've found inside a 'well-maintained' machine?

Wasn't there a story a while back about someone finding an entire roach nest inside a desktop tower? Like, not just a couple bugs, but a full blown infestation with eggs and everything. The owner just thought it ran loud and slow. It's wild what people consider normal for their computers. I guess if you never open it up, you have no idea what's happening in there. That pet hair heat sink is pretty nasty too, lol.

Honestly, people get way too worked up about a little dust. It's just insulation, right? Machines get warm, that's how they work. Opening up a computer is asking for trouble if you don't know what you're doing. Maybe that guy in Phoenix saved himself three years of accidentally breaking something by just leaving it alone until it finally quit.
