Unpopular opinion: I doubted those new heated dive hoods for years.

Tried one on a salvage job in Duluth last month, and it actually kept my head warm for the full 90 minute bottom time. Anyone still using the old rubber ones?

My old hood froze solid on a Lake Michigan dive last winter.

@barbara399 you're not wrong, that cold water is brutal. But honestly your comment about it being miserable hit home because I've been there shivering in a rubber hood that felt like an ice pack after 30 minutes. That frozen solid thing charlesj46 mentioned is exactly why I gave up on the old style. I completely get the skepticism about the heated ones. I was the same way until I finally tried one myself. It's a game changer for real. No more cutting dives short because your head can't take it anymore.
