Serious question, why do we still trust decades-old decompression schedules?

They were made for ideal conditions. Real dives have currents and cold. It's a gamble every time.

Whoa, hold on. They made these schedules for ideal, warm water? You're telling me my dives in 50 degree water at 80 feet are using the same math as some tropical test dive? That's... that's actually crazy.
