Rant: The change in hull cleaning rates over the last five years is killing me

When I started on the Gulf Coast in 2019, a standard hull clean on a 60-foot yacht was a solid $400 job, and the boat yards were happy to have you. Now, I'm lucky to get $250 for the same work, and there are guys undercutting that. The market got flooded with new divers after that one big training school ran a ton of ads. It went from a decent living to a race to the bottom real fast. Has anyone else in a port city seen this kind of price drop, and how are you dealing with it?

Nah, that's just how any trade gets when it's crowded.

Yeah, I used to believe that too. But seeing how oversaturated web design got really changed my mind. It's not just crowded, it's that the low end gets flooded with people using templates and racing to the bottom on price. The good clients who pay well start to disappear because they can't tell the difference anymore. It makes the whole field feel cheaper.
