I finally came around on full-face masks after a close call
Had a chat with Dave from Gulf Coast Diving last month at a job near Port Fourchon. He said he used to hate them too until a piece of debris hit his regulator at 60 feet and cracked his dental plate. That story hit different because I've been running a half mask for 5 years without issue. Anyone else switch over after a specific incident?

Buddy of mine down in Grand Isle, Tom, swore by half masks for years. We were doing a night dive off a rig, nothing crazy. A current kicked up and a stray fishing weight came flying past, smacked the side of his head. Missed his eye by maybe an inch, but it tore his strap and knocked the regulator clean out of his mouth. He was flailing for a solid ten seconds before he got it back. Now he won't touch anything but a full-face, even in the pool. Tells everyone that story every time he sees a half mask.

Gotta push back a little here @anthony127. One freak accident doesn't make half masks dangerous, it just means gear can fail in weird ways no matter what you're wearing.
