Had to pick between a new drysuit or a full comms upgrade for my helmet
My old Viking suit was leaking bad on a bridge job in Portland, but my comms were also spotty. I went with the drysuit, and it saved the project because I could stay down longer without freezing. Anyone have a good fix for old OTS Guardian helmet wiring that won't break the bank?

Solid call on the drysuit, that's a safety thing first. For the Guardian wiring, check if the local dive shop does repairs, sometimes way cheaper than a full replacement. They can often just re-solder the bad connections.

My buddy's Guardian from 2018 had the same wiring issue. He took it to Dive World in Tampa and they fixed it for like eighty bucks. It's been solid for two seasons now. I agree with @west.alice, a good shop with a tech who knows their stuff can handle a simple re-solder. It beats dropping several hundred on a new unit if that's the only problem.

Trust a dive shop with a soldering iron? That's how you get a flooded unit. Just buy the new one.
