Ditch the heavy steel lifting bags for lift bags on my last salvage job in Norfolk
I always thought the big steel lifting bags were the only way to go for heavy stuff, but a buddy convinced me to try these high-capacity fabric lift bags on a 10-ton prop pull. They handled the load fine and were way easier to stash on the boat. Anyone else made the switch from steel?

and that's kind of how it goes with a lot of old school gear, isn't it? We get stuck on the heavy duty stuff because that's what we know, but the newer materials have gotten surprisingly good. It's like how I finally switched from my old cast iron skillet to a lightweight nonstick one for everyday cooking, you know? The old one had its place but it was just a pain to haul out and clean every single time. Same deal with these bags, lighter to store and easier on your back, which matters more the older we get.

That's just how it goes with everything these days, lighter and simpler is usually better once you get past the nostalgia.
