A guy on my crew said only 2 percent of divers ever hit saturation. Is that real or just dock talk?
I was reading a writeup from the Association of Diving Contractors and it said saturation divers make up under 2 percent of the working dive force. That number hit me because we had 11 guys on the barge in Port Fourchon last year and not one of them had done a real sat run. Some guys say sat is the only path to real money and you're wasting your card if you don't push for it. Other guys I know turned it down on purpose and say the money isn't worth being locked in a chamber for 28 days. Where do you all land on it, is sat still worth chasing or is that a young man's game now?
