A dive supervisor's one line about my finning fixed my bottom time
Last month off the coast of Pensacola, my supervisor said I looked like I was fighting the water instead of moving through it. I switched from fast kicks to slow, long fin strokes and added 20 minutes to my air at 80 feet. Anyone else get a simple correction that made that big a difference in their dives?

Man, I had almost the exact same thing happen in Cozumel a few years back. My buddy just said "stop helicoptering your fins" and it clicked. I was doing these short, choppy kicks that were basically all ankle and no hip. Once I started thinking about kicking from my core and letting the fin do the work, my SAC rate dropped like crazy. I went from burning through a tank in 45 minutes to easily stretching it past an hour at similar depths. The other thing that helped me was relaxing my grip on the reg too, tension makes you breathe faster than any fin technique.
