Which side are you on about buying variant covers just for the art?

My comic shop had a big sale last Saturday and I grabbed 3 variant covers from the new X-Men run because the artwork was amazing. But then I realized I sort of broke my own rule about only buying books for the story, not the cover. Do you grab variants because you like the art or do you stick to the main covers for the actual reading experience?

Oh man, I just did the exact same thing last week with the new Spider-Man variants! I told myself I was done buying covers just for the art, but then I saw that Campbell cover and couldn't resist adding it to my stack. Now it's just sitting in a bag on my shelf looking pretty while I read the regular issue digitally, and I feel kinda silly about it.

Own that shelf trophy, @the_vera I do the same thing more often than I'd like to admit. My rule now is if I'm grabbing a variant I have to actually hang it up somewhere, not just bag it and forget it. Makes me feel way less silly when I glance over and see it on the wall while I'm reading the digital copy.
